&lt;br&gt;
Like the federal reserve in the USA, that has taken many a hit from past presidents and congress that issued dire warnings about its motives, and even manage to expell it from US soil, it has managed to creep back into, and subsequently govern the monetary system it sought to control.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;br&gt;
The Bank of England is a curious enigma indeed, although publicly owned independence of the monetary policy was handed back to it when Labour came into power. My question is simple: What Government and publicly owned institution would loan itself money, put itself in debt and then charge crippling interest on that debt that will last for generations to come?</content></entry></feed>
